Oregon Contemporary Theatre welcomes noted local playwright and NW10 founder Paul Calandrino for a 7-week playwriting workshop, focusing on the creation of 10-minute plays. This focused playwriting intensive gives attendees hands-on experience writing 10-minute plays in advance of the submission deadline for the 2026 NW10 Festival. The deadline for this annual festival, open to writers from the Pacific Northwest, is October 31, 2025. The 2026 NW10 Festival will be presented in March at Oregon Contemporary Theatre.
The goals of the class are to familiarize attendees with playwriting fundamentals, encourage attendees to present their work to fellow playwrights and revise it, and to complete play(s) that they can submit. Each week, attendees receive writing prompts, read their plays aloud with classmates as their cast, and present revisions for further review. The workshop is meant to be a perfect opportunity for anyone wanting to try their hand at crafting a 10-minute play.
The workshop runs for seven weeks beginning September 16, meeting Tuesday evenings from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. Tuition is $125, with sliding scale financial support available. To maintain an attentive work environment, space is limited—registration will remain open until the course is filled.
To register, please call the OCT Administrative Office at (541) 684-6988.
