From the NW10 Producers:
Welcome to the 2025 NW10 Festival, our 17th annual festival of original ten-minute plays. This year’s slate features eight captivating works that explore the intricate landscapes of human connection, identity, and transformation. The festival playwrights have crafted worlds that demand emotional depth and technical creativity, from the supernatural elements of a ghost in the machine, to the physical comedy of a very amateur dance recital. Our festival company of nineteen actors and eight directors worked to create that seamless transition between distinct realities while maintaining the intimate connection with our audience that a ten-minute play uniquely provides.
Our guest judge, Clarence Coo, chose the finalists for this year’s lineup. Clarence is an award-winning playwright who works and resides in New York City. His criteria for selecting the plays were based on the questions, “What if the audience had never been to live theatre? What plays would leave them wanting more?” Clarence answered this by choosing diverse narratives: a father-daughter relationship navigating grief, a dance enthusiast finding his artistic voice, the passing of an iconic legacy, siblings navigating tradition and authenticity, and even a whimsical tale of childhood imagination.
We extend a special thank you to Oregon Contemporary Theatre, our producing partner for the past 17 years. Their quality and level of support allow us to bring this festival to YOU, our faithful patrons. We look forward to sharing these stories with you and continuing our tradition of fostering fresh theatrical voices in the Pacific Northwest.
With Gratitude,
