The Mask of the Actor and the Mask of the Play with James Peck
In person at OCT
Saturday, June 18 (single session)
Sliding scale, $45-$65
Using various masks, actors will be introduced to character physicality, articulation of physical states and the power of gestural expression in the space of the stage. Mask understanding provides foundational essentials for actors who want to be creative and offer a greater range on stage. This work will also be underpinned through the framework of the Alexander Technique, a means of using the body well in the communication of a character’s appearance. There is no pre-requisite for this class, though interested students are encouraged to take Physical Theatre 1 to build on techniques used in both courses.
Registration closes Wednesday, June 15 or when the class fills, whichever comes first. Registrants will be contacted for payment after minimum class enrollment is met.
Health & Safety: All in-person classes at OCT require proof of vaccination in order to attend. Masks are required when the county is at high-risk levels and encouraged when at low or moderate levels. See OCT's website for complete Health and Safety information.
