Oregon Contemporary Theatre offers a variety of courses for adults of all experience and training levels. Our classes are taught by professional instructors and cover a number of topics, including Acting Technique, Scene Study, Playwriting, and more. Classes are generally 4-8 weeks and are taught in the Autumn, Winter, and Spring.
Acting with Your Body with Inga R. Wilson Sundays, 11:00am-1:00pm, January 20 - February 10
Be more than just a talking head! In this four-week course, students will explore the power their bodies have to convey emotion and character. Open to anyone with some acting experience, students are asked to prepare a memorized monologue before the start of class.
Intermediate Improv with Erica Towe Mondays, 6:00-8:00pm, January 21 - March 11
In this course, students continue to work on fundamental principles of improvisation learned in Level 1 Improv and Theatre Games. Work with fellow improvisers to create scenes by incorporating concepts such as status, tilt, and reincorporation. During the final class, students perform in a showcase for friends and family!
This workshop focuses on writing and workshopping long-form dramatic works and is
open to playwrights with significant writing experience. Playwrights will be challenged to develop new work, present to fellow playwrights, read published plays, and write at least one critical paper on a formal element of
dramatic writing pertinent to their own writing.
