Devising Workshop with Erica Towe
In person at OCT
Wednesdays, May 11 - June 15 (six weeks)
Sliding scale, $75-$175
The Devised Theatre Experience is for anyone interested in exploring collaborative creation and creating new theatre works using devised theatre techniques. Join actor, storyteller, and teaching artist Erica Towe in this six-week class as we explore the basics of devised theatre with the goal of collectively creating original theatrical pieces to be performed for our final project. Topics in the class will include: building the group dynamic, selecting an inquiry question, finding the frame, making original material for performance, improvisation, building narratives and scores, and the power of devised theatre to connect to larger social and political contexts. Included in the class are elements of actor training that relate to presence, energy, voice and body work, and text analysis.
Registration closes Monday, May 9 or when the class fills, whichever comes first. Registrants will be contacted for payment after minimum class enrollment is met.
Health & Safety: All in-person classes at OCT require proof of vaccination in order to attend. Masks are required when the county is at high-risk levels and encouraged when at low or moderate levels. See OCT's website for complete Health and Safety information.
