COVID-19 Information

All upcoming performances and community events are postponed until further notice. OCT business offices and box office are closed to the public. Patrons with questions are encouraged to call the box office at 541-465-1506 or by email at boxoffice@octheatre.org.

Live theatre offers relief in hard times—a safe place to find a smile, a deep breath, an escape. Oregon Contemporary Theatre is proud to be such a refuge for our community, now for more than 28 years.

Bringing people together for a shared experience is core to our work. We love the intimate engagement that exists between actor and audience at OCT. The healing and transformative power of a great live theatre experience is why we love what we do. And that is why the current situation is so challenging.

We want to be here for you. We want to be here for our community.

Based on Gov. Kate Brown’s recommendations, we made the agonizing choice to postpone our 12th annual NW10 Festival of 10-Minute Plays. Now, with the Governor’s order for Oregonians to stay home, we are postponing our annual fundraiser and the two remaining shows for this season: A Doll’s House, Part 2 and Grand Concourse. We are committed to rescheduling all performances and look forward to returning as a place where our community gathers to collectively experience the healing power of live theatre.

We need your help now more than ever.

It is impossible to push back weeks of performances and postpone a major fundraising event without creating serious hardships for our nonprofit organization. We currently have no ticket revenue coming in and are fast-approaching what would normally be our peak fundraising season. Over 40% of OCT’s budget comes from charitable contributions, and more than half of those donations are made between now and May 31.

Despite the temporary closure, our staff and artists still have work to do. And, with your support, we can pay artists who have already completed work on postponed projects and keep staff—people whose livelihoods depend on the theatre—on the payroll and planning for the future.

If you are able, please make a donation to Oregon Contemporary Theatre.

Give online at octheatre.org/donate, call (541) 465-1506, or mail a check to OCT at 194 W Broadway, Eugene, OR 97401.

Thank you for your support. Every gift makes a big difference in the continued life of OCT.

While we may be at a physical distance, remember that the arts keep us all inextricably linked to one another. It is through our shared stories that we are reminded of humanity’s resilience and collective strength. Keep heart. We look forward to welcoming you—our community—back to the theatre again soon.

“Now there are some things we all know, but we don't take'm out and look at'm very often. We all know that something is eternal. And it ain't houses and it ain't names, and it ain't earth, and it ain't even the stars… everybody knows in their bones that something is eternal, and that something has to do with human beings. All the greatest people ever lived have been telling us that for five thousand years and yet you'd be surprised how people are always losing hold of it. There's something way down deep that's eternal about every human being.”

― Thornton Wilder, Our Town
